Dec 3, 2013 - Rocking it at Rock City, Georgia

At times, the most interesting places to visit are not located in some city that is easily found. Instead, there are beautiful places of interest located by the side of a road, hidden from plain sight. One of these would be Rock City, a roadside attraction located near Ruby Falls on Lookout Mountain.

Eventful Shows for Special Seasons

There are many events and shows organized for bus rental visitors who arrive at Rock City. For paid admissions to the garden, visitors can enjoy daily bird shows that showcases birds of prey. If you were to visit during Fall, you get to enjoy this awesome maze made from crops of corn located in the valley below the gardens dubbed as The Enchanted Maize. This is an event where you get lost in the maze and you find your way out by answering trivia questions placed at some posts in the field of corn. Other than having fun getting lost in the maze, there are also hay rides and other activities as well at the site.

In November and December during the Christmas season, Rock City places millions of Christmas lights and displays around the park. Known as the Enchanted Garden of Lights event, there are food and gift booths to visit as well as the lighted telling of the Nativity of Jesus story and sweet singing of carollers from around the region.

The Wonders of the Great Outdoors

On regular visits to Rock City, coach bus visitors can enjoy a collection of many rock formations. There is a long, convoluted rock trail at the park, with gardens lining the trail featuring hundreds local trees and plants, all labelled for visitors to identify. This same trail also runs through some really bizarre rock formations which you will find interesting and amusing, especially the Fat Man’s Squeeze and the 1000-ton Balanced Rock.

Don’t forget to visit the other sections of Rock City, which is the Fairyland Caverns and Mother Goose Village where you will find amazing blacklight sensitive sculptures.

Another two famous spots to visit at Rock City is the Lover’s Leap and the High Falls of Lookout Mountain. According to legends, the Lover’s Leap is a place where an Indian who fell in love with a woman from his rival tribe was thrown off that lookout point when the affair was discovered. Don’t let the legend deter you from visiting this lovely lookout point where you can view the amazing High Falls of Lookout Mountain.
